FAIRFAX, Va. — In a recent letter, President George W. Bush commended pest management professionals (PMPs) for their efforts in protecting public health and property of Americans and designated April as National Pest Management Month.
This is the 28th year the President of the United States has recognized the industry for protecting the nation's health, property and food from pest-related threats and preserving quality of life for Americans.
As part of the National Pest Management Association's (NPMA's) mission to educate Americans on pests and the diseases they may pose, it is launching a community education initiative "Pest Control Goes Back to School."
As part of the initiative, PMPs can visit local elementary schools to discuss pests, pest behavior and ecology, and the importance of protecting home and health from pest-related threats. PMPs may also demonstrate the new educational Web site, www.pestworldforkids.org.
"Pest control has significantly improved the quality of life for all ages," says National Pest Management Association Director of Public Affairs Cindy Mannes. "We have developed an interactive educational resource for children to explore the world of pests and learn about the important ways pest control continues to impacts their lives. On behalf of the association, we're proud that our members are providing such valuable education in the local community."
